Funding Supports Arts Education, Community Arts, and Individual Artist Projects in Clinton, Essex, Franklin, and Hamilton Counties.

The Adirondack Lakes Center for the Arts (ALCA) is pleased to be awarding an all-time record-high amount for the region it serves of more than $250,000 in regrants to locally based arts and cultural organizations, teaching artists, and individual creative artists, with a second round of funding—the application window for which is now open—ultimately bringing the total of 2024 regrants to $285,000.

With funds made available by the New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA), ALCA’s Adirondack (ADK) Quad-County Statewide Community Regrants (SCR) Program continues to support a wide range of Arts Education, Community Arts and Individual Artist projects, to be completed in most cases by December 31, 2024. These 2024 SCR awards are funding a record-high number of more than 85 projects—including, to date, at least nine in Arts Ed totaling a minimum of $28,500; at least 48 in Community Arts totaling a minimum of $158,000; and 30 in the Individual Artist category, totaling more than $70,000. These projects are being presented throughout the four counties and the one tribal territory that ALCA, as the region’s NYSCA-designated SCR site, serves: Clinton, Essex, Franklin and Hamilton counties and the Akwesasne community of the Saint Regis Mohawk territory.

An additional $29,000+ is slated to be awarded in Round-2 2024 SCR funding—for Arts Education and Community Arts projects only.

In addition to his IA project “Onkwehonwe Songwriting,” David will be performing a solo concert on Sunday, October 20th, at 2 pm at the Au Sable Forks Free Library as part of its SCR-supported "Music in the Library" series (photo courtesy of LFL).

Indispensable Roles Played by Panelists and Fiscal Sponsors

The SCR program was developed to ensure that New York State’s arts and cultural funding reaches every part of the state. The program forms the cornerstone of the partnership between NYSCA and local arts agencies throughout the state, providing a link between NYSCA and segments of communities that might not otherwise be able to access direct funding from NYSCA.

The ALCA grant program thanks all applicants who submitted funding proposals for the 2024 SCR awards. Special thanks for the indispensable roles played by:

  1. The municipalities and nonprofit organizations—the Eddy Foundation, Play ADK, the Schroon Lake Arts Council, the Town of Elizabethtown, the Town of Keene and the Town of North Elba—that served as fiscal sponsors for arts groups that are not officially designated nonprofits or for individual artists; and

  2. The individual artists and arts enthusiasts who served as peer-review panelists—many of whom have served in this role one or more previous times—and reviewed and evaluated several of this year’s nearly record-high number of 89 applications and 104 projects.

To learn more about ALCA’s grant program, please contact SCR Coordinator Fred Balzac at fred@adirondackarts.org and/or 518-588-7275. The Statewide Community Regrants program is made possible with funds from the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature.
