STUDIO ARTS SERIES:
Learn the fundamentals of art, both technical and creative! Classes includes studies in:

  • Painting
  • Printmaking
  • Sculpture
  • Drawing & Design
  • Computer Art
  • Photography
  • Business of Art
  • Art History and Art Appreciation

Students participating in the program are encouraged to enter their work into a group show in one of our galleries. Two programs are offered, one for ages 7-12, and one for age’s teen-adult.  Classes can be taken as a series, or as an individual class.

Studio Art Series

Tues. July 6th, 13th, 20th: Water Based Oil Paints with Matt Burnett
9:00 am – 12:00 pm   Teen – Adult  Beginning to Advanced
Join artist Matt Burnett who teaches at SUNY Canton, and experience working in plein air, figure and life painting.   Complete several canvases over this three-day class.  Materials include everything needed to continue painting on your own: brushes, paint and canvas. $65 / $55 members plus $60 materials fee

Thurs. July, 8th: Graphic Design - Logos
1:00pm  - 4:00 pm  Teen – Adult  Beg. to Adv
Take a crash course in the design and function of logos, then learn the basics of Adobe Illustrator to create your own! Students should bring their own laptop with Adobe Illustrator CS3 or higher. Don’t have one? First 3 students to resister can use borrow the AC’s! $35 / $25 members

Tues. July  20th: The Business of Art with Matt Burnett

For aspiring artist and those wishing to advance their career in the art world through self- promotion and publication.  Topics covered such as; resume, making a disc of your work, grants, galleries, juried shows and more.
$25 / $15 members

Tues. July 27th: Introduction to Printmaking
9:00 am – 12:00 pm   Teen – Adult     Beginning
Learn the basics of Printmaking, positive and negative space, registration, safe cutting tool practice, all without a press.  Make a print in class and have the skills to begin printmaking on your own.  Cornelia has a Masters degree in printmaking from Cornell University.  $25 / $15 members plus a $20 materials fee

Tues. August 3rd, 10th, 17th: The Fundamentals of Drawing and Design
9:00 am – 12:00 pm   Teen – Adult     Beginning to Advanced
Study and practice methods of: positive and negative space, perspectives in gray, the picture plane, and spatial relationships.  Drawing techniques of line, shading, gesture and texture will be covered.  Materials include everything needed to continue drawing. Cornelia taught art at Ithaca College and Cornell University.   $40 / $30 members plus $40 materials fee

Thurs. August 12th: Graphic Design - Print
1:00pm  - 4:00 pm  Teen – Adult  Beg. to Adv
Part two of our Graphic Design series, students will learn to design printed materials (business cards, letterhead, postcards etc.) integrating their newly created logos. A perfect set of classes for a new business or anyone looking to revamp their current materials.   $35 / $25 members
