THE FINE PRINT:
ACCEPTABLE ENTRIES: Images created via any form of photography will be accepted for consideration (i.e. film/digital, unaltered or manipulated, alternative process, mixed media, montages, photograms, etc.), so long as the basis of the image is photographically created. Art must be original work of the person who enters it. The Adirondack Lakes Arts Center for the Arts reserves the right to reject entries considered offensive or inappropriate for any reason.
ARTIST ELIGIBILITY:
Professional and amateur photographers, 18 years of age and over, and working in the USA may submit images for consideration.
ENTRY FEE: There is a non-refundable entry fee of $30 USD for the first three images ($20 for Arts Center members). Additional images may be submitted for $10 each. There is no limit to the number of images that may be submitted.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:
Each entry consists of an entry form, entry fee and a CD containing images for acceptance. The CD must be labeled with the full name, phone number and address of the artist. The CD must be readable on a PC. (DVDs will not be accepted)
Image files on the CD must adhere to the following requirements:
• JPG format at high-quality (sRGB color space is preferred)
• The longest side of the image must be sized to at least 1024, but no greater than 3000 pixels
• Filenames consisting of the entrant’s name and entry number to match the entry form. For example, “JohnDoe_Entry1.jpg”, “JohnDoe_Entry2.jpg” and so on.

ACCEPTANCE AND AWARD PROCESS:
Images for exhibit will be chosen by the selection committee from the initial digital entries. Prizes will be awarded by the Jurors based on viewing of the framed display artwork.
FORMAT OF EXHIBIT ARTWORK:
Artwork must arrive at the Arts Center ready to hang, that i.e. with a wire or other sturdy device (No sawtooth hangers please). Artwork must be framed and matted- only white or off-white matting will be accepted. Plexiglass should be used instead of glass. (The Arts Center is not responsible for damaged glass.) Size of the finished piece must be greater than 12 inches, but less than 40 inches on the long side. Artworks intended to be displayed in an alternate manner (i.e. shadowbox, transparent, etc.) may be accepted with prior permission of the Arts Center. The Arts Center reserves the right to reject artworks that appear to be significantly different than their entry files.
DELIVERY AND RETURN OF EXHIBIT ARTWORK:
Upon notification of acceptance of artwork, the artist must ship or hand deliver the accepted piece(s) to the Arts Center no sooner than 8/15/10 and no later than 8/20/10. Shipped work must be sent in a re-usable container, as this container will be used to return unsold work. Work must be securely packed, with identification tags attached to the back of the work and with the return shipping label enclosed. DO NOT USE STYROFOAM PEANUTS. A street address must be used for return shipping, as UPS will not deliver to Post Office boxes. A prepaid shipping label must be enclosed with the received work. Work which arrives damaged or which does not meet the specified conditions for exhibition may be disqualified.
SALES:
All work must be for sale at prices set by the artist. The Arts Center retains a commission of 30% of sale price. Payment to the artist will be mailed within 30 days after receipt of proceeds from sales. The Arts Center reserves the right to reject any artwork deemed to be priced too high to be sellable. Artwork may not be withdrawn before the end of the show.
USE OF IMAGES: All entrants agree that any image they submit to Diversity Through Many Lenses may be used for marketing and promotional purposes directly related to the exhibit This use may include, but is not limited to, publication in any printed materials, advertisements, electronic media, Internet, television, catalog, DVD, magazine, gallery shows, and the Arts Center website. Artist will be given visible credit where any image is used. Copyright and all other rights are retained by the artist.
INSURANCE
The artist will be responsible for delivery and pickup of all items to be displayed in the Adirondack Lakes Center for the Arts gallery, three days to one week before and after the dates of the show. The Adirondack Lakes Center for the Arts will provide insurance coverage on all items accepted upon arrival at the gallery. Items will be insured at the full retail price set by the artist. Insurance coverage begins when the work is received, up to but not exceeding one week prior to the first day of the show. The Arts Center does not accept any liability for items during transit and will not insure the artwork after one week past the last day of the show.
JURORS
John Radigan
Born and living in Wickliffe, Ohio, John is an artist and lecturer leading workshops throughout the year for various organizations including the Adirondack Photography Institute, Cleveland Botanical Garden and Franklin Park Conservatory. His informative and entertaining lectures explore the richness of the human/nature relationship through compelling imagery and thoughtful discourse.
His work has been exhibited in numerous solo and group exhibitions in venues such as Cleveland Botanical Garden (Cleveland, Ohio); Lake Placid Center for the Arts (Lake Placid, New York); Lake Metroparks (Kirtland, Ohio); Arts Center/Old Forge (Old Forge, New York); and the Fine Arts Association (Willoughby, Ohio). and can be found on the walls and in the collections of many corporations including Merrill Lynch, Floraline Display Products, InfoRad, International Paper, KeyCorp, Life Cycle Strategies, Mountainman Outdoor Supply, Peak Performance Sports Medicine, Prudential Insurance, Thrivent Financial and Xerox.
His images and writings also appear in two books, Foundation, published in 2006 by the Adirondack Photography Institute, and the upcoming Beat of an Adirondack Heart.
Kelly Hofschneider
Before coming north, Kelly worked in New York City as a Creative Director at a large textile design firm and as an Art Director for an award winning graphic design firm. She moved to the Adirondacks three years ago to become the Art Director of Adirondack Life Magazine, and now lives in Saranac Lake with her husband, Mark and their black lab, Angus.
Nancy Strader
Currently living in Blue Mtn. Lake she has worked as the Director of Photo Archives for Hewlett Packard and the Senior Photographic and Art Editor for Smithsonian Books. She has also served as the manager of the Digital Equipment Corporation's Corporate Photographic Library and as a training director at the Energy Education Project. Currently she serves on the Board of Trustees for the Adirondack Lakes Center for the Arts and the Indian Lake Library.
